Airport Toyota Opens New State‑of‑the‑Art Facility at EF Auto
Essendon Fields is proud to announce the opening of the new Airport Toyota dealership, a landmark development that marks a major step forward for both the award‑winning dealership and the Essendon Fields Auto precinct. Now operating from its expanded, purpose‑built facility at 355–375 Wirraway Road, Airport Toyota has officially entered a new era of customer experience, innovation, and growth. This opening comes during a record‑setting period for the precinct, with 21,665 cars sold at Essendon Fields Auto in 2025 – the fourth consecutive year sales have exceeded 21,000 units, with an estimated total sales value of approximately $970 million.

Representing more than 16 years as a foundation tenant within Essendon Fields Auto, Airport Toyota has grown significantly since its original opening. The new dealership spans 10,900 sqm and features a 2,500 sqm showroom, a 2,000 sqm workshop, and a striking mezzanine display overlooking the Tullamarine Freeway, offering unrivalled visibility to the more than three million vehicles travelling past the site every month. Built with customers in mind, the facility has been designed to deliver a seamless, premium experience, showcasing the full Toyota range and offering state‑of‑the‑art service capabilities. The expansion also reinforces Essendon Fields Auto’s position as the leading automotive destination in Australia, now home to 22 major brands across more than 30 hectares – including nine of the nation’s ten bestselling car brands.

Airport Toyota’s growth over the past decade has been remarkable. When the dealership first opened, it employed 66 staff and projected sales of 1,500 new cars and 400 used cars annually, servicing around 55 vehicles per day. Today the dealership has 118 staff, sells 2,300 new cars and 1,000 used cars each year, and services 80 vehicles daily – numbers that will scale significantly from the new site. This expansion comes at a time when new car sales at Essendon Fields grew 7% year‑on‑year in 2025, despite a 0.6% national decline, highlighting the precinct’s exceptional customer‑drawing power and ongoing momentum.
The strengthened presence of Toyota – alongside other growth brands including BYD, Kia, MG, BMW, Audi and CUPRA – supports rising demand for EVs and plug‑in hybrids, a category that grew by 130% nationally in 2025.
The new Airport Toyota dealership occupies the final large showroom opportunity currently available on Wirraway Road and was delivered through a collaboration between JMA Architects, builders 2Construct, and Legacy Project Management. Development partners praised the project’s scale, design quality, and alignment with the automotive industry’s shift toward electrification and hydrogen technologies.
With the new facility now open, Airport Toyota is set to deliver an elevated experience for customers across Melbourne’s north‑west – strengthening Essendon Fields Auto’s position as the premier automotive destination offering unparalleled choice, convenience, and service. Combined with recent dealership openings and ongoing investment, Essendon Fields Auto’s 2025 results clearly demonstrate the precinct’s accelerating growth trajectory and its status as the region’s most influential automotive hub heading into 2026.
