Aviation Training Takes Off At Essendon Fields

Aviation training organisation Aviation Australia, a long-term customer of Essendon Fields, is moving to a new larger site to almost double their footprint within the precinct.

Essential to their rapidly growing business, Aviation Australia is relocating to new offices on the ground floor of Essendon Fields’ One Five Vaughan commercial office redevelopment. The new tenancy will spread over 903 sqm, almost double the space of their current home on Bristol Street.

This new space will enable the organisation to service more students and training of the next generation of the aviation workforce, delivering on Essendon Fields commitment to developing employment-generating new aviation facilities, and strengthening Aviation Australia’s claim as a centre for excellence for aviation training.

Aviation Australia is the largest provider of aircraft maintenance engineering training in the country and works closely with the industry to supply a pipeline of skilled apprentice engineers, supporting the many maintenance, repair and overhaul businesses co-located at Essendon Fields Airport and throughout wider Victoria. The move is a significant milestone for the organisation and promises to deliver major benefits for its employees, students and apprentices.

Glenn Ryan, CEO of Aviation Australia, described the move as a strategic leap forward in supporting the aviation industry in Victoria and Aviation Australia’s growth, and aligns with its mission to lead the aviation training sector.

“This relocation marks a new and exciting chapter for Aviation Australia. The facilities at Vaughan Street provide an exceptional environment for learning and innovation. The larger space and modern layout will allow us to expand our training programs, including cutting-edge areas like remote piloting and autonomous technology,” said Mr. Ryan.

“Being based in the heart of Essendon Fields, with its world-class infrastructure, is ideal for us. The transport links, ample parking, and access to fantastic amenities make this the perfect place for our staff and students to thrive,” he added.

Mr. Ryan also highlighted the practical benefits of the new location.

“With all our classrooms and offices on one floor, the improved layout offers unmatched flexibility. The surroundings create a focused atmosphere for our students and apprentices, helping us deliver the highest standards of aviation training,” he said.

Brendan Pihan, CEO Essendon Fields, said the move by Aviation Australia to bigger and newer office premises was a great illustration of how the Essendon Fields team consistently look for ways to accommodate the changing needs and requirements for customers.

“The redevelopment of One Five Vaughan is an important project for Essendon Fields and has opened up some vacancy in our otherwise extremely tightly held precinct. Aviation Australia joins Westpac Business Banking Centre on the ground floor of the building, who are upgrading from existing premises in Tullamarine and moving into 711sqm, accessed via a newly transformed lobby experience,’’ said Mr Pihan.

“Tenant interest in Vaughan Street is strong and illustrates the demand for quality office space in a setting that is easily accessible via the adjacent freeways and nearby tram and bus stops, in a walkable commercial precinct. Fitted suites on level one will soon be available for potential customers to inspect,’’ he said.

Matt Marais, GM Aviation at Essendon Fields, said it was especially pleasing to support one of the airport’s most established aviation tenants as it continues to grow.

“Aviation Australia has been a fantastic customer for nearly a decade. Now this new facility will allow them to grow their theory training and we understand they’re examining how to expand their operations elsewhere with hangar space at Essendon Fields as well,’’ he said.

“Aviation is at the heart of everything we do at Essendon Fields and our commitment to create state-of-the-art and inviting office or hangar space for our aviation tenants is critical to the ongoing success of Essendon Fields,’’ finished Mr Marais.
