Community Update: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Last updated Wednesday 25 March at 4.46pm

Here at Essendon Fields, the safety of our community is always paramount. That includes our team members, our tenants and operators, their customers, and any visitors that come to Essendon Fields each day.

Essendon Fields management has been closely monitoring the continually evolving situation in relation to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and implementing measures aligned with advice from Australian health authorities to best manage health risks to our community.

During this time, more frequent cleaning of our public amenities and common areas has been occurring. This includes the cleaning of touch points such as door handles, lift buttons and push plates in office buildings, additional cleaning of public toilets, shuttle buses and our airport terminal.

The majority of our Essendon Fields management staff have also commenced working from home in order to maintain safe social distancing practices as outlined by the State and Federal Government.

We encourage our tenants, customers and visitors to monitor their health, observe social distancing and personal hygiene best practice including frequent hand washing, and take precautions consistent with health authority advice.

The effects of this situation has created disruptions and temporary closures for many Essendon Fields businesses, including our entertainment and event facilities, beauty salons, gym, indoor sporting venues, and regional flight services.

In line with the directive for Shopping centre food courts and cafes to offer takeaway food only, we have removed seating at Essendon Fields Central to ensure everybody is following the rules set in place.

For the full list of Federal Government mandated business restrictions please visit www.australia.gov.au.

In addition to the above noted changes, LaManna and Coles supermarkets have also altered trading hours and operations to ensure the safety of both employees and customers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We ask that you please contact individual businesses or refer to their websites for the latest details, and continue to support local businesses that are able to offer safe and alternative methods of doing business whilst restrictions are in place.  More details on this available here: ef.com.au/supportlocal.

Additionally, the Victorian Government has established a Business Support Fund to assist small to medium businesses most impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. To register visit: https://fs2.formsite.com/diirdwebteam3/u3qeftcfcc/index.html

We will keep informing you of any updates to Essendon Fields operations as the situation changes and remain committed to doing everything we can to ensure the health and safety of our community at all times.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact askme@ef.com.au.

Sincerely,

The Essendon Fields team
