The Victorian Government has now introduced the Victorian Travel Permit system. To help stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), all residents and travellers wishing to enter Victoria must now apply for a permit.

The permit system applies to travellers from anywhere across Australia. Information on the Travel Permit System can be found here:

Essendon Airport encourages its stakeholders to stay up to date on the current Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) travel requirements and restrictions as they apply to any interstate arrivals.

A message from Essendon Fields

Here at Essendon Fields, the safety of our community is always paramount. That includes our team members, our tenants and operators, their customers, and any visitors that come to Essendon Fields each day.

Essendon Fields management continues to closely monitor Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic directives, and implement measures aligned with Australian health authorities advice to best manage health risks to our community.

Additional Cleaning: Since the beginning of the pandemic, frequent and thorough cleaning of our public amenities and common areas has been in place. This includes disinfection of touch points such as door handles, handrails, lift buttons and push plates in office buildings, public toilets, and our airport terminal passenger areas.

Social Distancing: increased signage, floor markers and queuing solutions are currently in place throughout the precinct public areas.

Remote Working: The majority of Essendon Fields staff have been working from home in order to maintain safe social distancing practices, and are now managing a gradual and safe return to work following State and Federal Government guidelines.

We encourage our tenants, customers and visitors to monitor their health, observe social distancing and personal hygiene best practice, and take precautions consistent with health authority advice and regulations.

Wear a Face Covering indoors: everyone should wear a mask or face covering when directed by the Government. More details about this can be found on the Department of Health and Human Services Website.

Personal Hygiene: wash your hands before you leave and when you return home or whilst at work on site, and be sure to keep at least 1.5 meters between yourself and others. Do not go out if you are unwell, unless it is to get tested after which you must go straight home.

Government measures have affected trading for almost all of our local businesses.  Many onsite businesses have altered operations to ensure the safety of both employees and the community.

As we take the welcome steps towards COVID normal we recommended that you contact individual businesses or refer to their websites for the latest details, and continue to support EF businesses that are able to offer safe and alternative methods of doing business whilst restrictions are in place.

We look forward to continuing to support local and hope that you can continue to do the same in a safe manner. We’ll get through this together.

The Federal Government has supported businesses and workers adversely impacted by COVID-19 through the JobSeeker and JobKeeper programs. To find out more please visit

The National Cabinet also instated a mandatory code of conduct relating to Commercial Leasing Principles during COVID-19, covering small to medium businesses across retail, office and industrial tenancies. This Code has been implemented in Victoria by the Victorian State Government under the COVID-19 Leasing Regulations 2020.  More on our approach to offering financial relief to our customers during this crisis here

We are continuing to work with our tenants to offer support in an appropriate and timely manner and thank our business community for working collaboratively with us during this period of uncertainty and change. We also acknowledge the support of our contractors, suppliers and business consultants, who have been working closely with Essendon Fields management to implement operational cost savings across the precinct, to be passed on to our tenants in the form of reduced outgoings. More detail on this initiative here

We will keep informing you of any updates to Essendon Fields operations as the situation changes and remain committed to doing everything we can to ensure the health and safety of our community at all times.
