Centenary Open Day | Event Postponed

In August 2021 we celebrated Essendon Airport’s Centenary, making us one of the world’s oldest operating airports.

100 years of aviation.
100 years of innovation.
100 years of air travel.

To celebrate our history, our present and our future, we had plans for a precinct wide EF100 Open Day in 2021.

Unfortunately, the continued uncertainty around COVID-19 cases and restrictions has required the EF100 team to adjust our Centenary celebration plans several times already, including postponement of the Open Day.

Whilst we had held out hope that a rescheduled date in October could go ahead as planned, unfortunately the environment remains too unpredictable, and public health and safety must be paramount.

We also appreciate the amount of coordination and planning required by all stakeholders to organise an event of this size, and the need to ensure a high level of certainty for all involved before we proceed.

In order to minimise disruption to attendees and participants, the difficult decision has been taken to postpone the EF100 Open Day event, to an as yet unconfirmed date in early 2022.

It is very disappointing, and the decision has not been made lightly, but we believe a later date will provide the best chance of post-COVID normalcy in Victoria and an event of this size  being able to occur without ongoing changes.
