EF Golf Classic launches for 2023

The Essendon Fields King Island Golf Classic has become an annual event that must be triple circled in the calendar for all golf lovers across Victoria and Tasmania.

Golfers not only get to play on world renowned golf courses on King Island across consecutive days, but also support Make-A-Wish Australia by doing so. Essendon Fields and Air Adventure are now pleased to announce next year’s event will take place over the weekend of 18-19 March 2023.

In February of this year, 101 golfers took part in the successful EF Golf Classic. Held over two days and raising a total of $28,524 for Make-A-Wish Australia, 2021 was the fifth consecutive year the event has taken place – meaning the collective total raised for Make-A-Wish Australia since 2018 now exceeds $100,000.

Make-A-Wish Australia, which grants life-changing wishes to critically ill children across the country, has been able to enrich the lives of many children thanks to the funds raised at these events. This year Make-A-Wish was able to grant one of its biggest wishes ever when Paige, who is able to daily manage her condition of cystic fibrosis with bravery and determination, was able to meet her hero – Australian Open winner Ash Barty, just weeks before her national triumph. Paige and her family were taken by limousine on ‘wish day’ to Pat Rafter Arena at the Queensland Tennis Centre in January. She was not only able to join Ash on court, but was invited to play some doubles with her.

“Paige has only started playing tennis this year, so Ash gave her some pointers and said she could do well if she sticks at it,’’ said Paige’s father Brian.

“Ash was the kindest and most down-to-earth person I have ever met. I actually tried to talk about tennis with her, but she was more interested in knowing things about Paige. I wish there were more Ash Barty’s in the world,” he said.

The Essendon Fields King Island Golf Classic truly offers an unbeatable experience for golf lovers who also want to give something back to the community.

Participants fly directly from Essendon Fields Airport to King Island Airport thanks to Air Adventure and Sharp Airlines, and play 18 holes at the famous Cape Wickham course on Saturday, followed by 18 holes at fabulous Ocean Dunes on Sunday. All flights, accommodation, golf, transfers and a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation are included in your ticket price, so all you’ll need to do is turn up and enjoy this magnificent golfing experience!

With dates locked in, now is the time to secure your booking for the 2023 Essendon Fields King Island Golf Classic. And if playing golf on two epic courses isn’t enough, there will again be a touch of friendly competition with great prizes on offer throughout the weekend!
