CHECKING IN

If you’re booked to fly out of Essendon Fields, you’ll be in the air and on your way in no time.

The main airport terminal is located at 72 Hargrave Avenue, Essendon Fields. Via car take CityLink/ M2 Tullamarine Freeway and use Exit 14 for English Street. Click here for parking and public transport options.

Security screening is not required so terminal processing is super-friendly and extremely quick; no queues and you’ll experience no-frills regional style terminal check in with significant time savings for checked baggage.

Hazardous Materials

When arriving at the check-in counter, you will be prompted by airline staff to declare any hazardous items in your carry-on and check-in luggage. Hazardous items include sharp, flammable items and dangerous goods. Typical items that fall under dangerous goods include:

  1. Flammable liquids such as cigarette lighters
  2. Pressurised gas cylinders such as aerosols, including deodorant, shaving cream and hair spray; and
  3. Strong acids such as batteries

Items classified as hazardous may be subject to specific conditions or even restricted from entering the aircraft. Please visit www.casa.gov.au for more information or contact your airline for more information.

A range of coffee and food options can be found in Essendon Fields Central, located directly across from the main terminal building. Options for a quick snack before your flight include Hollies Café, Friction Café, Nando’s and more. Essendon Fields Central is also home to Coles, Australia Post, a newsagency, pharmacy, printer and other speciality stores. A few metres further is LaManna, one of Australia’s best destination supermarkets that also incorporates a café, bakery, patisserie and deli.

Please refer to your local airline for information on transporting your pets. Pets transitioning through the terminal must be kept in a carrier at all times.
