Extend Wellness To Your Skin With Skin Scentual
Maintaining the best health and wellness outcomes extends of course to your skin, and for those who work at Essendon Fields, there is a unique environment to take into account.
Exploring the Fields, you’ll notice a green theme. As part of Essendon Fields’ broader sustainability goals, a commitment is evident to creating and nurturing parks and outdoor leisure spaces for the community to enjoy. Owner of Skin Scentual Skin & Laser Clinic at Essendon Fields, Lisa, says that the beautifully landscaped environment is perfect to enjoy during work breaks, however we must take into account the possibility of harsh UV sunlight in open spaces and occasional winds.
To assist the Essendon Fields community, Lisa has collated her top tips for radiant skin.
“There’s no doubt the pristine landscaping at Essendon fields has us all tempted to sit outside on our breaks, so following some simple guidelines will mean our skin won’t pay for it. Even cloudy skies and a less intense sun can lull us into a false sense of security, and lead us to skip the sunscreen before heading out,’’ said Lisa.
“SPF protection is still just as important in winter. While UVB rays (the ones responsible for sunburn) are weaker in winter, UVA rays (which lead to premature skin ageing) remain the same all year round,’’ she said.
“Our hero product at Skin Scentual is called Ultra Protective Antioxidant Complex and is designed to complement your daily SPF protection, formulated with a powerful complex of antioxidants including Silymarin (Milk Thistle), Vitamin C derivative, Vitamin E, and Ferulic Acid that help protect against non-UV environmental stressors. This product aims to be used alongside daily SPF protection, to provide protection against non-UV environmental stressors.’’
Skin Scentual have always largely focused on beauty, health and dermal treatments, using state-of-the-art analysis equipment to find the main cause of a client’s concerns before creating a custom treatment program.
“We’re lucky enough to have a big enough space at Essendon Fields to be able to offer different therapists specialising in different treatments!”
“The skin damage we see on our customers comes from various factors, but probably the most common we see is that UV sun damage. Second to that, and less commonly spoken about, is a bit of damage from wind. This happens when your skin loses its natural oils from cold, dry air. It’s important to keep hydrating your skin to assist with recovery. Perhaps book in for one of our high performance facials!”
Making healthy choices can help to keep our skin in tip top shape, and Lisa suggests regular exercise, a nutrient-dense diet, staying hydrated and reducing stress when possible.
Lisa’s efforts to improve wellness also extends to her staff.
“It important to invest in any employee’s personal and professional development regularly. At Skin Scentual, I encourage staff to enjoy regular long weekends to refresh, and reward staff with a healthy lunch. Or even to try some new additions to their skin care routine!”
