iFLY at Essendon Fields to host indoor skydiving championships

iFLY Melbourne located at Essendon Fields will host the state championships for indoor skydiving on Saturday 21 August, with the best performers qualifying to compete at the national championships to be hosted by iFLY in Perth later this year.

The state championships, which will be streamed live on Facebook from iFLY Melbourne, will showcase the most talented indoor skydivers from across Victoria competing for prizes in 10 different disciplines.

iFLY’s General Manager Michael Katz said anyone can register, but must be a certain standard to compete in the championships, and expects up to 40 teams to battle it out for the titles.

“I welcome anyone who would like to come along to participate, or watch the championships, which will run all day on Saturday 21 August. I can promise some amazing action which will showcase the best in indoor skydiving and acrobatics in Australia,’’ he said.

“We are excited because a number of our iFLY Melbourne instructors will be competing at their home base. However, the competition is open to all ages, including a junior freestyle competition open to kids aged from 3-17 years of age. We encourage anyone to come along to see what they can do,’’ he said.
