The TLC Ambulance comes to EF

Essendon Fields recently welcomed TLC for Kids and their TLC Ambulance, which helps deliver special moments to sick children in palliative care. Following Essendon Fields making a $10,000 donation to TLC for Kids (a Christmas gift made on behalf of all of the businesses at Essendon Fields),  the TLC Ambulance made a special visit to Essendon Fields earlier this year to acknowledge the significant financial contribution.

TLC for Kids is one of the leading Australian children’s charities helping sick kids and their families cope with the challenges of everyday life with illness. The TLC Ambulance safely transports sick children and their families to their most treasured places to experience that joy, perhaps for one last time. With the partnered help of Ambulance Victoria, paramedics volunteer their time to help run this unique service.

“Each year we make a couple of donations to worthy causes on behalf of our customers at Christmas.  It was quite humbling to be shown through the TLC Ambulance on its recent visit to Essendon Fields and to better understand how this wonderful service works to help sick children and their families share some final special moments together. Essendon Fields is proud of its donation and pays tribute to TLC for Kids and dedicated Ambulance Victoria volunteer paramedics which staff the ambulance,” Essendon Fields CEO Brendan Pihan said.

TLC for Kids CEO Tim Conolan, AM, said the recent visit to Essendon Fields with the TLC Ambulance, attracted a crowd of people from Essendon Fields head office, further consolidated a strong connection between Essendon Fields and TLC for Kids.

“Not only was the recent donation by Essendon Fields an incredible gesture, which will help keep our TLC Ambulance running in 2022 by helping fund 10 very special trips for some very special families, but the enthusiasm to our recent visit to Essendon Fields showed how genuine the connection with our charity truly has become,” he said.

Essendon Fields, the airport and business park operator, made the donation to TLC for Kids on behalf of the 200 businesses and 6000 daily workers that form its onsite community.

The TLC Ambulance will be open and on display at the Essendon Fields Community Day so members of the public can appreciate the care and effort that goes into ensuring that sick children can still have their final wishes fulfilled while being supported during travel.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone at our Community Day on March 27 between 10am and 3pm,” Mr Pihan said.
