Giving big hearts a helping hand
Over the past few months, Essendon Fields has welcomed some energetic mini humans and their families to the precinct from HeartKids.
HeartKids is the only national not-for-profit organisation focused solely on supporting and advocating for all people impacted by childhood heart disease, one of the largest causes of infant death in Australia.
Norman Hutton, State Manager for HeartKids VIC/TAS Division says that the organisation’s purpose is to make a real and lasting impact for the Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) community.
“We seek to give every child, teenager, and adult in Australia with congenital or childhood acquired heart disease a fighting chance to live a long, healthy, and fulfilling life. Our support is a commitment for life to these people because there is no known cure. People with congenital heart disease face unique challenges for their entire life,” said Mr Hutton.
Essendon Fields alongside some key tenants have assisted in the creation of events for HeartKids and their families, including co-funding a session with iFLY Melbourne. Children suffering from CHD and their families were welcomed to enjoy an exclusive all-abilities session at iFLY Melbourne alongside some catering from LaManna Melbourne. In addition, Essendon Fields has an upcoming event planned in conjunction with Bounce at Essendon Fields where attendees will be welcomed into a community favourite – a historical hangar that has been transformed into the biggest trampoline park in Australia.
HeartKids are now in turn inviting the Essendon Fields community to join them as guests at their upcoming “Breakfast With The Stars”. The breakfast event will take place on Friday 18 November at Hyatt Place Melbourne at Essendon Fields, featuring international ventriloquist sensation David Strassman and Ted E Bare. HeartKids encourage you to grab your colleagues and buy a table for what should be a fantastic event in support of charity.
“Essendon Fields is delighted to be associated with HeartKids, to support the great work they do to help children and teenagers with CHD, as well as their families and carers. So far we’ve had a great response to the events we’ve helped to create alongside iFLY and Bounce, and we really look forward to their major fundraising event at Hyatt Place on November 18,’’ said Brendan Pihan, CEO of Essendon Fields.
