KMS Accounting & Tax poised for take-off at Terminal

KMS Accounting & Tax have been a long term tenant at Essendon Fields stretching back to 2008, with their office in suite 2 of the refurbished Terminal building supporting the business to hit key targets time and time again.

Occupying 91 sqm at 72 Hargrave Avenue, KMS offer a comprehensive suite of services tailored to their client needs ranging from accounting and tax compliance, business growth consulting, cyclical reporting, ASIC corporate services, mergers and acquisitions engagements, and more. In total five staff operate out of the office, which services clients across Victoria.

Founded by Jorma Koistinen, originally as a sole practitioner, the firm has evolved significantly over time, now proudly part of a larger network of financial services firms within Australia.

Sharn Burnell, Principal Accountant for KMS Accounting & Tax, believes the key to the firm’s success has been to build close working relationships with all its clients, which are often held over a coffee or lunch at Essendon Fields based businesses such as LaManna, Friction or Two Minutes Turkish.

“We’re currently focusing on building a highly effective operational rhythm with the team post recent changes to the firm. We’re looking to close out the financial year very strong, hitting as many key targets around client deliverables as possible. Then we’ll reset for FY25, with the ultimate aim to further grow the firm via new business, as well as building out our service offering to our existing client base,” said Mr Burnell.

Mr Burnell notes their tenancy in the refurbished Terminal building is a great place to work, with views over Essendon Fields Airport and the Melbourne skyline. The location gives the employees at KMS ample opportunity to take advantage of everything Essendon Fields has to offer from shopping at LaManna to team lunches at Mr McCracken and Basq.

“I have definitely found a rhythm working at Essendon Fields and being able to visit all the different food outlets. I’m also starting to build my knowledge of what other businesses are located in the precinct, and have now joined the local gym, which is great to have here. I have stayed at the Hyatt Place Melbourne Essendon Fields, which was a great stay, when I was a guest at the recent Matthews Steer breakfast,’’ said Mr Burnell.

“Initially you would think Essendon Fields is removed from the main CBD, but with the access to the highways it’s very easy to get in and out of the city. Next on my list is to visit DFO around the corner!’’ he said.

Occupying a prominent position in Melbourne’s North-West, Essendon Fields sits within a fast growing catchment, with over 1.1 million people living within a 15minute drive time.

Joel Rauer, Essendon Fields’ GM Property said the experience of the KMS team is exactly why the revitalised Essendon Fields Airport terminal building was such a sought after location for businesses, with only one vacant space currently remaining – suite 5 on level 1.

“The Terminal building offers a striking outlook onto the operating airfield, which can be such a novelty. Many of our customers love to see the aircraft coming and going, and to enjoy some of the best views of the surrounding area. The feedback we’ve had from all our customers in this building has been overwhelmingly positive,’’ said Mr Rauer.
