Construction begins on new speculative industrial facility

Essendon Fields, in conjunction with agents Colliers and CBRE, has just launched a new industrial warehouse building for lease in our growing Hart Precinct.  Construction has commenced on site with completion scheduled for May 2024.

The speculative warehouse development will occupy a 9,790 sqm site – and includes a 5,134 sqm warehouse, 503 sqm office, hardstand area and onsite carparking.

The Watson Young designed, high-clearance warehouse will have six on-grade roller doors and access for B-double trucks. The facility’s secure hardstand will also have separate truck entry and exits. In addition, the warehouse will have an impressive 10 metre cantilevered awning to provide all-weather truck loading and fast dispatch.

“This is an exciting development for Essendon Fields and highlights the attractiveness of our Hart Precinct which has already secured a number of important tenants, including Modscape, for whom we are also building a new 20,000 sqm manufacturing facility,’’ said Essendon Fields’ GM Development Peter Funder.

“We know the demand for industrial warehouse sites in Melbourne is strong and that’s why we’ve made the decision to proceed with construction, while the leasing process gets underway with agents. In line with our approved masterplan, the Hart Precinct is growing quickly to meet the needs of a range of industrial, manufacturing and recreational tenants in Melbourne’s north-west, and will help us achieve our goal of providing space for 20,000 on site jobs in the next 20 years’’ he said.

Essendon Fields location at the intersection of Melbourne’s North and West population growth corridors, mean the employment precinct can be accessed within 15 minutes by over 1 million people, a figure that extends to nearly 4 million people (or 80% of the metro population), with 45 minutes, making it attractive to employers seeking to entice a workforce seeking shorter commutes and better work-life balance post-pandemic.
