Orbx upsizes at Essendon Fields

Orbx has expanded its presence at Essendon Fields, doubling its footprint with a move into a new office to accommodate its growth plans.

The company, a global leader in aviation simulation graphics, has moved from a 121 sqm facility in the newly refurbished Essendon Fields Airport Terminal building to a 252 sqm office at 7 English St.

Dr. Anna Cicognani, CEO of Orbx, says the company ran out of space in their previous office, and needed more room.

“The move is definitely in line with our company’s growth. We decided to consolidate some of the roles we had overseas into roles in Melbourne and we have hired quite a bit in the past 12 months, but mostly this was an opportunity for us to get everyone in the office, and get social,’’ Dr Cicognani said.

Orbx creates true-to-life scenery and richly detailed airport depictions for flight simulations, including the Microsoft Flight Simulator which recently celebrated its 40th Anniversary. Orbx now haS more than 50 employees around the world, with around 20 of them based at Essendon Fields, and a number of ‘hot desks’ for interstate staff.

Essendon Fields GM Property Joel Rauer was thrilled to find a solution that worked for Orbx within the precinct.

“These are exciting times at Essendon Fields. Our office vacancy is currently sitting at 0.2% and tenancies are tightly held. We’re thrilled that Orbx came to us early on in their decision making and that we were able to find a solution for them in the Fields,” said Joel.

“We loved to be right on the apron, watching the air traffic, and we will miss that, but we’re excited about the new office space,’’ Dr. Cicognani said.

“We’ll enjoy having more space to hang out! Plus we have a BBQ right outside our offices that we’ll likely use in the warmer months, LaManna’s gelato is right next door, and the office has just got new carpet so it has that “new” smell around it! Once we get rid of the moving boxes, we’ll make the space a bit more Orbx-like! Come and visit us any time or check us out at orbxdirect.com“.
